Tartufo di Pizzo Classic Frozen Dessert 30x140g
A single-serving of homemade ice cream, typical to the town of Pizzo in the Calabria region.
Tartufo di Pizzo is an
hazelnut and chocolate ice cream, with a cocoa heart that melts before ice
cream and forms a thick, flowing black drop.
This ice cream is completely handmade and any single portion packed in paper. Its shape is an irregular hemisphere. The outer surface is dusted with bitter cocoa.
It's produced with fresh
and natural ingredients, without industrial bases, only: whole milk, sugar,
dextrose, egg yolks, hazelnuts and cocoa; the ancient traditions of the Pizzo
truffle do not include the use of added vegetable fats, milk and fats in powder
of any kind, nor of preservatives and colourings. It is a very full-bodied ice
cream because for its natural ingredients and for the production technique it
incorporates little air, unlike the industrial one that is largely air.
It takes its name from its resemblance to the truffle and the name of the town of Pizzo that gave birth to it.
The Italian Ministry of Agriculture proposed to the European Community the recognition of the PGI Pizzo Truffle and approved the related production regulations.
